- - We have created new ways for you to keep up on information involving the wrestling club. You can get text message reminders about tournament sign-up deadlines, parents meetings, and other important information. - - The Salina Kids Wrestling Club parents meeting is Thursday, October 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the Central High School Gym. The SKWC clinic will begin Monday, November 1st. Clinic practices are 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays throughout the month of November. Practices will be held at South High School's wrestling room. If your child is interested in joining the clinic please attend the parents meeting to learn more. If you are unable to attend the meeting or are have any questions you can contact Bob Stein at 823-8947 or Rich Zimmerman at 823-3987.
- - Four members of the Salina Kids Wrestling Club went to Cedar Falls, Iowa to wrestle in the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals. Javier Vieyra earned All American honors by placing 3rd in the Cadet 98lb. division. John McNabb, Rudy Rodriguez and TJ Ragnoni also competed well while falling short of earning All American status.
- - Twelve members of the Salina Kids Wrestling Club placed in the top 6, which led to an 8th place team finish at the 2010 Kansas Kids State Championships. Champions included Rhett Edmonson 8U/46lbs., Taylon Peters 8U/88lbs., Cole Butts 8U/110lbs., and Javier Vieyra in the High School division at 105lbs. Two wrestlers were state runner-ups with Blake Olmsted finishing second at 8U/43lbs., and Nick Davenport at 8U/95lbs. Other placers included Andy Jewell's 3rd place finish at 14U/165, Tanner Parret 4th place at 10U/76, Nick Wuthnow 4th place at 14U/140, Mike Shirk 4th place at 14U/205, Allen Morabito 5th place at 10U/76, and Kade True 6th place at 14U/175. Congratulations to these wreslters and all the wrestlers that qualified for the State tournament this year.
